Another 365 days.....

I’ve just reviewed my first post of 2017, which set out what I was going to do for 2017. The key goal? Time Management, because I thought that if I managed my time better, everything else would fall into place.

In case you’re wondering, I didn’t quite get a handle on my time management – my sleeping habits have not greatly improved, my fitness faltered (greatly), I fell out of love with running and my eating habits got worse. I actually plan to see out 2017 with pizza…..

Love for London

The UK had barely begun to grieve for the 22 people who lost their lives in Manchester on 22 May 2017, when on 5 June 2017 another terror attack took place, this time in London (for the 2nd time this year), my home city. At the time of writing, at least 7 people have lost their lives, with several injured; the suspects eliminated.

For 2017, I’m going to…..

Minutes before or after I saw in 2017 with friends at a house party, I was asked the usual question: “so what are your New Year resolutions going to be?”

New Year, New......Ah, Never Mind!

Fellow Readers, I went on an epic blogging hiatus; it has almost been a year since my last blog post. Like, not only did I not blog, I rarely blog surfed either.

Why?

.....and Highlights!

It's the last day of 2015!

I shared my Lessons, now here are a few of my Highlights:

1. Seeing Ellie Goulding perform for a bunch of fierce & fit women and leading us in her new workout with Nike

Lessons......

I remember how I felt this time last year; 2014 was not the best year for me personally and I was apprehensive about what 2015 would hold for me.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you and yours! Whatever you are doing and wherever you may be, I hope that you have a joyful and peaceful time!

God Bless x

Progress?

With a big question mark.

You're Never Too Old.....

I've recently turned a year older. Among the well wishes, cards and presents, I contemplated my future and the goals I had expected to achieve as the birthdays rolled by. But that got a bit too depressing, so I switched my thoughts to things I could still do regardless of my age...this was inspired by a post I found by Hannah Cozens while blog surfing.

Effort

Can you believe we're in March already?! It's actually scary to think how fast time is going.....

Focus

We are well and truly into 2015! Probably by now you would know whether those resolutions and/or goals are going to stick or are going into the bin.

2014......

So, i feel that 2014 has been a good year - for other people.

For me it has been challenging (not in the best way) both professionally and personally....that's not to say there haven't been good times, but i ended this year thinking things could have been/progressed better. Even my blog has suffered under this challenging year. I have seen those around me celebrate weddings, experience new relationships, new jobs, promotions and the like, whereas I have predominantly been a witness to these good fortunes rather than experience them for myself. It makes wonder whether I have done or am doing enough to achieve my goals....... That said, i'm grateful for being alive, when so many are not. I'm grateful for my relative good health, my family, my old & gold friends, the new people I have met & started new friendships with!

As the final hours of 2014 beckon, I don't dare to be too optimistic for the New Year (i'm not down for the "New Year New Me movement"), however I look forward to 2015 and pray for faith, love, strength & progression. I thank you all who have taken the time to read and/or follow my blog; have a Happy New Year I wish you all the best for 2015!

Fairytale

So, it's September already.......my, my, my, how time freaking flies by!

I'm not really a Next Top Model watcher, but this morning I was watching episode 7 of season 9's Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model. The main photo shoot was about fairy tale characters; here are just a few of the pics:

Your Girl Is Back......

Well I think so. Kind of.

I've not blogged in a month, but I have been checking out other blogs (I've been lurking in the background). Despite my absence, I've seen that my blog is still checked on a daily basis which I do appreciate!

The break was needed though I must admit that about 40% was attributed to laziness! However I do have a few posts coming up. I can't give you daily posts, I can't even promise regular posts, but I will try to give my blog a bit more attention!

In the meantime, I have 'claimed' my blog on bloglovin.com. There was such a big deal about Google Reader closing down on 01 July 2013 that I joined bloglovin so I could import the blogs that I followed. But it really was not a big deal because since 01 July 2013 I have been able to easily access and read the blogs that I follow whenever I log into my own blog.......

But anyhoo, If you're an avid user of bloglovin and would like to follow my small and humble mish mash of a blog, please feel free to do so.

Restless

Ramble Alert!!

It’s been a month since my last post……I’ve been in semi weird place (in my mind) plus I've been busy.

I’ve been contemplating my life recently – where I am and where I want to be (in other words over thinking!).

Since my last post, I have gotten a year older. I’m grateful and Blessed for having another year of life, but sometimes I think “what am I doing with it?!”

My dreams from 10 years ago differ greatly to my current reality, in so many ways. It’s not so terrible, but I don’t feel satisfied. I focused on certain areas of my life, such as education and get my legal qualifications, while neglecting/sacrificing other areas. Yeah, I got my legal qualifications but I still feel I’ve not progressed as person…..if that makes sense.

So now the running theme in my head is Do – what to do? What I can do? What should I do? I’ve basically been feeling restless, but have not been doing much to resolve it.

I’m the one holding me back. I can feel it. Even when I have an idea for a blog post and a bit of free time to complete the post, I somehow manage to find a way to avoid doing it. Urgh – I never used to be like this a few years back. I have been entertaining some serious doubts in my head *sigh*

How can I live or even enjoy life if I’m restless on the sidelines? Answers on a postcard please......in the meantime I rely on books by Dorothy Koomson for a bit of escapism!

Readers, this well and truly a ramble post. It may not make sense to you; not sure if it even makes sense to me. but I felt I had to do this post in order to move forward…….if you have managed to read this far, thanks for reading! I’m sure some, if not a lot of people feel like this from time to time. I had to de-clutter my brain a bit!

Nike Training Club

You may have noticed a few posts on my blog regarding Nike and their special events. I have actually (and weirdly) realised that I’ve not really explained what Nike Training Club (NTC) is……..

I wanted to take this opportunity to write about NTC and how I got involved in it, especially as we are fast approaching March (eek!) and those goals/resolutions that you may have truly started to flounder!

So....................

What is Nike Training Club?

Well this was taken from their Facebook page:

Nike Training Club UK is a women’s fitness community offering up the expertise, inspiration and motivation for you to make yourself whatever you want to be.

A Year Old

So, I've just realised (in the middle of work) that my blog is a year old! Can't believe it! Of course I must do something to celebrate; I reckon a giveaway is the right to go, yes?!

More to follow shortly.......

Make You Happy

Urgh, January is a crap month. There, I said it! It’s only the 12th and this month has already gone on for too long! The weather and possibly your bank balance are in the minus figures; the sun rarely makes an appearance and maybe some of your goals are starting to falter……

I came across an article from finance website www.learnvest.com, namely 130 Things That Make Us Happy…From Your Friends At LearnVest. I noted that it was simple, everyday things that made the LearnVest members happy, and it got me thinking – what makes me happy? It might sound like a dumb question with an obvious answer, but I have to tell you, sometimes it’s easy to forget to things that make you happy, that make you appreciate that you are alive.

So without thinking about it too much (because it wouldn’t be as fun) here are 10 (of many) things that make me happy:
  1. Reading (pretty much anything)
  2.
  3. Relaxing in a nice hot bath
  4.
  5. Re-watching my fave films (Clueless, 50 Days of Summer and When Harry Met Sally to name a few!)
  6.
  7. A win on the lottery, no matter how small – and they often are very small!
  8.
  9. The feeling after I’ve worked out
  10.
  11. Having random or significant but hilarious conversations with my friends and family
  12.
  13. Eating out with friends
  14.
  15. Waking up in the morning (always grateful), and looking out of my window to see blue skies and the sunshine (whatever the season)
  16.
  17. Karaoke
  18.
  19. Apple pie or chocolate brownie/fudge cake with ice cream

Just writing these down has put a smile on my face!

So what makes you happy?

Take a minute or two to think about what makes you happy. Write it down, stick it on a wall, do one of those things that make you happy. It will help make your mood brighter, your week better and maybe January go a bit faster.....

Care to share? Leave a comment below with one or two things that make you happy :¬)

Less Than 30 Days

Yep, 2012 is well and truly on its way out! And we are all busy with Christmas preparation and the festive party season, I usually use the month of December to reflect on my year, my goals and my life.
This year has been alright (ok, more than alright!); apart from celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee and those small events called the Olympics and Paralympics coming to my city, I have managed to achieve a few of my goals:
  • I have consistently exercised for a whole year (people, understand that this is major for me – a separate post will be dedicated to this), got stronger and lost weight
  • I successfully grew out my cropped haircut
  • I wore a full face of make-up
  • I qualified as a solicitor – finally!
  • I started this blog
However, there is always room for a bit of improvement! With less than 30 days to go until 2013, I have started to think about I want achieve for 2013 and how to achieve those goals. In the meantime, in between the Christmas Shopping, the decorations and the partying, I have set a few mini goals for myself:
  • Complete the bakasana pose (aka crow pose)
  • Print off some photos from my camera and put them in albums – I have hundreds from 2011 that I have stored but not yet printed and my mum is seriously on my back about this!
  • Buy new dress or two – because I sold my other dresses on eBay :¬)
  • Kickstart my holiday fund; and decide where to go!

Bakasana (Crow) Pose - But I'll doing mine on a low, flat altitude!

So, fellow readers/bloggers, have you achieved your goals for this year? Have you started thinking ahead? Can you fit in a goal or two by the end of this month?

Er.....

So, I’ve not posted for the best part of this month. For a variety of reasons, mostly concerning that little thing called Life which has included but not limited to crazy times at work, running errands for my family watching hilarious new shows Girls (Sky Atlantic) and Some Girls (BBC3) and re-discovering my love for banana cake.

I could/should apologise, but the reality I have come to face is that I may not be able to blog as often as I intended to……..and I now don't feel as bad as I did around 10 November 2012.

Having said that I do owe my blog and its readers a few posts! Hence why this has been posted at an erratic hour :¬)

Wanted to show off a small purchase made about 2 weeks ago:

Sleek Blush, £4.49
An addition to my tiny (and often wasted) make-up collection!

Without flash

With flash

I saw a post on Sleek Blush in Rose Gold by another blogger (who for the life of me I cannot remember – the perils of blog surfing! I remember it was a British Blogger…..). I was very intrigued by the shimmer and wanted to get one for myself. I saw the Sunrise Blush as well; even though prima facie (“on the face of it”) they looked the same, Rose Gold had a lot more shimmer than Sunrise. I felt that Sunrise was more of a blush and would suit my skin better – I think it’s warmer, whereas Rose Gold was more of a party blush. And the price ain't so bad either.

Since I bought it, I have only tested it for the purpose of my blog, but I hope to give it a full try out when I attend my younger brother’s graduation. And with that I’m off to get a bit of ‘beauty’ sleep, but I will leave you with a song (and video) that has been seducing my ears:

Until Next Time x
