Loving Right Now: Get Away - Bakery Boys

Tighten and Tone: Ellie Goulding x N+TC

I received an email invite by Nike Women to attend the launch of Ellie Goulding’s Tighten and Tone N+TC workout on 03 March 2015. It was last minute (i got the email maybe 18 hours before the event) and I wasn't even sure if I was going to make it because of work; nevertheless I RSVP'd for myself and a friend and hoped I would make the launch.....

Loving Right Now - Soul Rich

It’s been a while since I acquired a mixtape; these days I tend to listen to music via YouTube or Soundcloud. But when a music artist makes quality music, it’s worth supporting their progression by purchasing their music.

I’ve been following 4i, an up and coming London rapper for a while; he is definitely one to watch.

AlunaGeorge

On 24 October 2013, my sister and I went to see electro duo AlunaGeorge at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. It’s been a while since I went to music gig; with my tinnitus (i.e. ringing in the ears – it never stops!) I tend to keep away from loud venues. However with tickets at a mere £15, I went armed with my ear plugs and prayer!

AlunaGeorge consists of Aluna Francis who sings and songwrites and George Reid who deals with instruments and production. They were formed in 2009 however in the last year or so they have really progressed in the industry and have more recognition.

What I like about Shepherd’s Bush Empire is that it is an intimate venue; the last time I was there was in 2008 when I went to see Robin Thicke.

Fairytale

So, it's September already.......my, my, my, how time freaking flies by!

I'm not really a Next Top Model watcher, but this morning I was watching episode 7 of season 9's Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model. The main photo shoot was about fairy tale characters; here are just a few of the pics:

None of Dem

Last Saturday of my usual morning workout, I went in search of a bacon buttie (bacon sandwich) with a friend. We ended up in some kooky café in Bow, where the above song was playing.

I've been aware of Robyn's music since she first appeared on the music scene around1997 - I was aged 11/12 at that time. While she is recognised in the music industry, I wouldn't regard her as a mainstream artist; I regard her as underrated. Still love her stuff though; from her early music, Show Me Love & Robyn is Here to the more quirky Konichiwa Bitches and Cobrastyle (absolutely love the video for Cobrastyle!)

Robyn is one of the great things to come from Sweden. ABBA and Ikea are other great exports. Thanks Sweden!

Er.....

So, I’ve not posted for the best part of this month. For a variety of reasons, mostly concerning that little thing called Life which has included but not limited to crazy times at work, running errands for my family watching hilarious new shows Girls (Sky Atlantic) and Some Girls (BBC3) and re-discovering my love for banana cake.

I could/should apologise, but the reality I have come to face is that I may not be able to blog as often as I intended to……..and I now don't feel as bad as I did around 10 November 2012.

Having said that I do owe my blog and its readers a few posts! Hence why this has been posted at an erratic hour :¬)

Wanted to show off a small purchase made about 2 weeks ago:

Sleek Blush, £4.49
An addition to my tiny (and often wasted) make-up collection!

I saw a post on Sleek Blush in Rose Gold by another blogger (who for the life of me I cannot remember – the perils of blog surfing! I remember it was a British Blogger…..). I was very intrigued by the shimmer and wanted to get one for myself. I saw the Sunrise Blush as well; even though prima facie (“on the face of it”) they looked the same, Rose Gold had a lot more shimmer than Sunrise. I felt that Sunrise was more of a blush and would suit my skin better – I think it’s warmer, whereas Rose Gold was more of a party blush. And the price ain't so bad either.

Since I bought it, I have only tested it for the purpose of my blog, but I hope to give it a full try out when I attend my younger brother’s graduation. And with that I’m off to get a bit of ‘beauty’ sleep, but I will leave you with a song (and video) that has been seducing my ears:

Until Next Time x

Loving Right Now: Skrillex & Damien Marley

i'm not sure how I could really describe this song; it's just epic:

This song regularly makes the playlist while doing my NTC workout - the beat and the bass really gets my body moving and it gives me energy to keep going a bit longer. I practically beg my trainer to let me have a copy of her playlist so I can download the songs!

While Dubstep has its roots in Europe, Skrillex has really created a great, energetic song; Damien Marley's lyrics perfects the song.

Got Love for Dubstep? Can you recommend any more tunes for me?

Loving Right Now - Rizzle Kicks & D'Banj

Hi guys! I hope you all had a Good Friday. For any Christians out there, today is the day to remember why you are a Christian x

I'm currently loving UK act Rizzle Kicks; when they intially came out in early 2011, I thought they were good, but now I can't get their songs out of my head! Here are two of my favourite songs:

They are both great songs, but "When I Was a Youngster" definately makes me think happy sunny thoughts!

I'm not sure if many people are aware of this next artist, but at the very least get to know, and love this song:

D'Banj is a Nigerian Artist. Being of Nigerian heritage, I do try to get involved in my culture, usually through literature, music and watching Nollywood films (I love Nollywood films!).

Afrobeats has steadily evolved over the years, beautifully infiltrating the raves and urban radio stations. I hold it Afrobeats on the same level as Funky House - and I LOVE Funky House. The above song features cameos from Big Sean, Kanye West, The Vujanic (check out his youtube channel - seriously, this guy is beyond hilarious and talented!) and the funny comedian/presenter Eddie Kadi. People, understand that Afrobeats is here to stay!

Thanks for reading x

Weekend Entertainment

I hope you had a great weekend; unfortunately London faced a washout on Sunday – heavy rain and better winds. Hi winter, glad to see you again. Not.

Anyhoo, yesterday (04/03/2012) I went to the Barbican for the Urban Weekender, consisting of live and free entertainment over 03 and 04 March 2012. For any international readers the Barbican is an entertainment centre based in Central London – you can check their website here.

I saw the Hip Hop Shakespeare Company perform for two events – Hip Hop Shakespeare Company Live, which were acoustic sets of singing, rap and spoken word and Opera in a Day, which was a condensed version of A Midsummer’s Night Dream. Here are few pics that I took on the day:
