The Rain Has been Pouring…..

But that hasn’t stopped me getting on with life!

Readers, the weather in the London is absolutely crap as of late. Summer has stuck two fingers up to the UK in general. It’s been rain, rain, rain and 2 seconds of sun; but I’ve been out and about. I started the weekend with an NTC Class; only 11 ladies (including myself and our trainer) turned up, but we still went in hard!

Yep, this is a job for the washing machine...trainers included!
it was wet and muddy, but damn it felt good to work out in the rain!

It wasn’t all muddy hard work (which was actually quite fun!); it was my mum’s birthday on Friday, so as a treat, me and my sister dragged her to the nail salon to get a mani-pedi after my muddy workout. I decided to treat myself as well, especially as I haven’t been to get my nails professionally done in about 5 years…….

I got a simple manicure with hand massage and nail design;
consider it a treat for my previous muddy adventure!

In between the excitement of getting my nails did and attending Church, I managed to lose my travelcard, which also held my debit card, driving licence, and other significant pieces of my life. I am truly grateful to God that the misplacement happened in a Tesco Metro and one of the staff had found my travelcard and put it lost property. I heard that there was a hefty drunk woman trying to sell a travelcard in the area on that day – so happy it was not mine!

On Sunday I’m going to the cinema to watch Magic Mike. Yep, I’m going to watch a film about strippers…….fine looking men getting their kit off. Ah, happy Sunday!

Yeah, this is a fairly random post…….Have a good weekend people x

Cheap n Sweet Treats

Hi guys! Hope you’re well x

Since my Back to the Shop post, I have attempted to restrict my spending especially on clothes. I regularly check out the H&M website but have bought only 1 item from the sale. My self-discipline has been in check so far…..I’ve been occupied reading the 50 Shades Trilogy!

I will admit that I have indulged in a few cheap treats:

I always buy Glamour Magazine, but this month's issue
was a treat as it came with a free gift from Benefit.
I chose the Bad Gal Lash Mascara; I've used it before and it superb

NYC - Fashion Ave Fuschia (268)
Barry M - Berry I/C (308)
NYC - Park Ave (246)
Superdrug was doing 3 for 2 on all cosmetics - the deal is now over

I’m currently wearing Barry M on my nails:

Taken from my instagram account
I actually think this is my favourite Barry M colour!

And as for sweet treats:
Formatted using the app PicsArt

I made some chocolate Oreo cupcakes consisting of a chocolate cupcake with an Oreo in the middle, finished with Oreo buttercream icing and topped with crushed Oreos. And yes……they taste mighty fine!

I was inspired to make the cupcakes after reading Esther’s post O is for Oreos!! Part 2! on her blog, Black. Is. Beauty. She has put up the recipe for the cupcakes which I modified for my own purposes. I seriously encourage you to try baking these cupcakes for yourself!!!

Nail Effects

Hi all!

Just a very quick post (before I hit my bed) to show off what’s currently on my nails:

Barry M
Gold (Colour 289); Nail Effects in Black (Colour311)

When I first sampled the Nail Effects, I really wasn’t that impressed with it. But having seen so many people use it especially on my friend’s nails (which you can see here) I decided to give it another go.

The nail polish has been on since Saturday and has lasted quite well. It is starting to chip, but the crack effect takes attention away from the chipping.

I think it’s due to the colour combination that makes the above Nail Effects successful. I have been able to go work to work with these nails and I have received nice comments about the nails – from the women obviously, because the guys in office don’t tend to notice changes straight away!

I think will try to experiment with other colours…….

Have you tried Nail Effects? Which colour combinations do you recommend?

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter fellow bloggers and readers! I hope you are all having a Blessed, fun and peaceful weekend!

I’ve spent my weekend attending Church, being the “dutiful” Christian. It was great seeing familiar faces – despite living in London, life is such that I only get to see some people a handful of times a year……

My weekend has been quiet and lazy……no shopping (boo! I’m broke >_<); baking and eating cake, watching great movies such as Mary Poppins  and enjoying the fact that I don’t have work on Monday.

I’ve also been painting my nails….I bought some Barry M Nail Paint. I love that I can get a variety of vibrant colours for my nails. I usually wear purple shades on my nails as I find that they suit me the best. But I decided to take a risk and buy a completely different colour:

Even though blue is my fave colour, I thought that this colour is very bright on me; I would probably only wear this colour during a holiday. When I showed my nails to my mum, she was not exactly impressed – she likes her reds.

This polish is coming off before I go back to work on Tuesday, but at least it goes with my watch:

What do you think?

Food for My Nails

Hi readers; I hope you’ve had a good start to the week!

Recently I’ve been having trouble with my nails. On my hands, their weak and only grow to certain length before they start breaking or splitting. The nails on my feet are a different story – they grow a bit too well and are strong! The fact is that I have been complacent in my nail care and I have finally decided to something about it.

I have bought the following products to help my nails grow and get strong:

Sally Hansen® Super Shine®Shiny Top Coat

Sally Hansen® Natural Nail Growth Activator

The Sally Hansen® products were a bargain. I got them for £2 each – yes, you read right, £2 from the Petticoat Lane Sunday Market in E1, London.
The Sally Hansen® Super Shine®Shiny Top Coat is supposed to do exactly what it says on the package. I guess I could use a top coat from another brand, but the price made the purchase favourable.......

The Sally Hansen® Natural Nail Growth Activator is supposed to help boost growth and rehydrate nails. I should see visible results within 5 days – provided I follow the instructions correctly.

Avon Nail Experts 24K Gold Strength

Finally, I bought Avon Nail Experts 24K Gold Strength for £2.50. It’s clear polish with (apparently) specks of 24K gold. This is designed to strengthen nails and I will be using it alongside the Natural Growth Activator.

I’m not a big fan of really long nails, but hopefully these products will assist me in gaining strong healthy nails. Oh and diet plays an important part too – got to consume the right food and supplements!
