On 24 October 2013, my sister
and I went to see electro duo AlunaGeorge at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. It’s
been a while since I went to music gig; with my tinnitus (i.e. ringing in the
ears – it never stops!) I tend to keep away from loud venues. However with
tickets at a mere £15, I went armed with my ear plugs and prayer!
AlunaGeorge consists of Aluna Francis who sings and songwrites and George Reid who deals with instruments and production. They were formed in 2009 however in the last year or so they have really progressed in the industry and have more recognition.

What I like about Shepherd’s
Bush Empire is that it is an intimate venue; the last time I was there was in
2008 when I went to see Robin Thicke.
We were waiting for 2 hours
for AlunaGeorge to perform; we arrived at the venue at about 7:30pm. I will not lie, I was not impressed. We had
performances from 2 supporting acts during the wait, and they were good;
however the wait was still too long!
Eventually AlunaGeorge came on
stage at 9:40pm. They performed songs from their current albums and their hits
which such as Attracting Flies, You Know You Like It, Your Drums Your Love and their latest track Best Be Believing as well as
their great collaboration with Disclosure, White Noise. It was a short set, 50
minutes in total, but a good set. Aluna sang well live, hitting all the right
notes and she was graceful with her ‘awkward’ dance moves.
We were fairly close to the
stage; unfortunately my pictures (taken with my Galaxy S4 mini) do not reflect
this! Here are a few of my 'best pics':
hope you guys had fun.
