Nike x International Women's Day

Pictures by Nike London

Full Disclosure: this is a Throwback post......like from March!

I embraced International Women's Day 2018 by attending an after-work female only strength session at WIT Fitness London, hosted by Nike.

It was quite a hardcore session...however it was a supportive and encouraging environment. The take-away from the session was that women should be encouraged to embrace strength training, whether at home or in the gym.

I had a great time even though my body was shattered by the workout. I got to learn new drills to try out in the gym and I got to work out with some lovely ladies. We rowed hard, rode hard and in my case i tried to pull-up really, really hard! I also got to meet Bianca Williams, a track athlete who competed for England in this year's Commonwealth Games.

International Women's Day is "a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political." I think that Nike & WIT managed to capture some of the essence of IWD 2018, by hosting this complimentary workout and promoting that women can achieve physical strength and be confident in acquiring that strength. They also succeeded in getting me to workout with 12kg and 16kg kettlebells!
