I think it is safe to say that 2016 has been an experience!
We lost more than a few well loved actors and musicians who were a part of our lives growing up; the passing of a person is never a pleasant affair, but I was particularly shocked at the deaths of Alan Rickman, Prince, Anton Yelchin, George Michael and mostly recently, mother & daughter, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher.
Politics went crazy; the shock results of Brexit and the US Presidential Election are still being felt. I can only pray and hope for a positive outcome in the long term
On a larger scale 2016 has been a humbling year to say the least. We have learnt and seen that the world is angry and in pain; the desire for change is strong.
On a smaller scale, 2016 for me has been a busy year. I still can't believe that we are mere days away from 2017. As mentioned in my previous post, returning to full time work has been very time consuming (duh!), which was partly why I had neglected this blog. However I did manage to fit in a few adventures........
I ran with Hart (Jan):
I ran another Spartan Race (Apr) just so I could get a better fire jumping pic:
I indulged in a few city breaks......
A couple of days in Geneva, Switzerland (Apr):
About 30 odd hours in Dublin, Ireland (Aug):
A few days in chic Copenhagen, Denmark (Sept):
I also left the EU to check out Freetown of Christiania!
And few days in Lisbon, Portugal (Oct):
And I ran a few races:
I think I can attribute a lot of the above to a "Just Do It" attitude (and one or two occasions, my credit card!). 2016 was also the year I waved goodbye to my 20s; I reflected quite a bit on my past and future and realised that I had neglected opportunities and experience for my career. I took steps to change that, for which I have no have no regrets.
I celebrated the Love of my nearest and dearest; I attended weddings, welcomed new members to my extended family and congratulated friends on their own bundles of joy that arrived in 2016 and are due in 2017. I also ate a lot!
2016 has been humbling but it has been kind for me. I can only hope and pray that 2017 brings more opportunities for me to thrive and create more great memories. I also hope that I can make more of an effort with blogging (again) from now on.
I wish you all the best for 2017; please feel free to share your 2016 Highlights and Lessons in the comments below!
Sounds like a great year to me! ...all about balance, eh?! Look forward to more from you in 2017! x
