I had recently won a twitter competition hosted by the Food Connoisseur and Zomato. The prize? Dinner at Miyako at Andaz, part of Andaz Dining at Liverpool Street, London.

I used the opportunity to meet up with a school friend last Friday, who I hadn’t seen in about a year. However when we got together it was like no time had passed; gossip and laughter galore!
The food was fresh and tasty; this was probably a rare occasion where our eyes actually matched our stomachs! In particular I loved the salmon sushi, chicken teppanyaki (which got a big thumbs up from me and my friend) and the yakitori. The only slight negative was the price of the drinks; I thought they were a bit high, in particular the soft drinks. We had 2 glasses of wine each and I had a further soft drink and this was probably accounted for almost a third of our bill (excluding the service charge). The value of the gift card was £50, which can cover dinner for two; however we were overworked, very hungry lawyers and came equipped to pay extra!

The environment was small, low-key and intimate, so would be ideal for a date or a catch-up with a friend or 2. Most people that dined were in groups of 2, there was a group of 4 and their presence was made known in the venue whenever they shared a funny joke! I was impressed with the service; it was fast efficient and friendly. I liked that they didn’t have a table turnaround for dinner, so my friend and I nattered away from 7pm until closing.
I’ve also written a review on Miyako for Zomato which you check here; after all, I have them to thank for the good food!
